Bounced Email Addresses Report
Review email addresses that permanently bounced, understand the Active and Resolved tabs and every column in the Bounced Email Addresses Report, and see how bounces resolve automatically when an address is updated.
Overview
Use the Bounced Email Addresses Report to see addresses that permanently bounced when your camp emailed them. A permanent bounce means the message could not be delivered, so the person is not receiving your confirmations, receipts, or reminders until the address is fixed.
A bounce is archived automatically once the account owner updates their email address, since changing the address re-verifies the account. The Active tab shows bounces that still need attention; the Resolved tab shows the ones that have cleared.
Open the Bounced Email Addresses Report
Access the report directly from the Data Check reports area.
Go to the Bounced Email Addresses Report
- Sign in with an admin account.
- In the main navigation, go to Reports and select System.
- Under Data Check, choose Bounced Email Addresses.
- Confirm the page title reads
Bounced Email Addresses.
When the page loads, you see the Active and Resolved tabs above a table with the columns Name, Email, Subject, Reason, and Bounced.
Follow up and resolve bounces
- Stay on the Active tab to work the bounces that still need attention.
- Select a Name to open the profile, then confirm and correct the email address with the contact.
- Switch to the Resolved tab to see bounces that have already cleared, along with the date each was archived.
When an address is updated, that bounce moves to Resolved on its own. A green banner tells you how many bounces were archived because the account owner has since updated their email address.
Report columns
Each row is an email address that permanently bounced.
Name
Account name linked to the profile. If the bounce is not tied to an account, this reads (no account) and is not a link.
The address that bounced. Confirm this with the contact and update it on the profile to stop future bounces.
Subject
Subject line of the message that bounced, so you can tell which email failed to deliver.
Reason
The delivery error reported back for the bounce, which helps you understand why the message could not be delivered.
Bounced
The date and time the bounce was recorded.
Archived
Shown only on the Resolved tab. The date and time the bounce was archived, which happens automatically once the address is updated.
A permanently bounced address will keep failing until it is corrected. Fix the email on the profile so the account owner starts receiving your messages again and the bounce clears to the Resolved tab.
