Getting StartedMobile App

Mobile App

A complete guide to the Campium mobile app — what families and staff can do, how navigation works, and troubleshooting common questions.

The Campium app is for both camp families and camp staff. Families use it to view photos, read camp news, manage pickup information, check billing, and message the camp. Staff use it to manage attendance, work with assigned groups, track buses, complete tasks, and communicate with families and coworkers.

What each person sees depends on what the camp has enabled for that account. Two people can sign in to the same app and see different menu options based on their role and permissions.

Campium does not have a separate parent app and staff app. It is a single app with features turned on or off per account.

How the menu works

The app uses a side drawer menu opened from the hamburger icon. On the web version, the menu may appear as a permanent sidebar instead of a drawer.

The Home screen is always available. Other items such as Photos, News, Chat, Attendance, Bus Tracking, Billing, and To-do Tasks appear only if the camp has enabled those features for that user.

If someone says they do not see a menu item, the most likely cause is that the camp has not enabled that feature for their account.

Signing in

Users sign in with their email address and password. The password field includes a show or hide toggle so they can confirm what they entered before submitting.

Campium supports these sign-in options:

  • Email and password

  • Sign in with Google

  • Sign in with Apple on iPhone and iPad

If sign-in fails, the app shows an error message on screen so the user can correct the issue and try again.

Campium is available on iOS, Android, and web. Apple sign-in is available only on iPhone and iPad.

Forgot password

Users can reset their password in a short three-step flow from the sign-in screen.

Send PIN

Enter the email address for the account, then tap Forgot Password and Send PIN. Campium emails a 4-digit reset code to that address.

Enter PIN

Type the 4-digit code from the email. If the message does not arrive, use Resend PIN to send another code.

Create a new password

Enter a new password with at least 8 characters, confirm it, and save the change. After that, return to the sign-in screen and log in with the new password.

View as user

Staff and admins can open the web version of Campium as a specific user. This is useful for troubleshooting, training, and confirming what a family or staff member can see in their account.

While impersonation is active, a red Impersonating a user banner appears at the top of the screen. Use Exit in that banner to return to the normal admin view.

View as user is available on the web version only. It does not appear in the iOS or Android apps.

Home screen

The Home screen is the main dashboard after sign-in. It gives the user a quick view of the most important information available to their account.

What appears on Home

Home can include:

  • A large welcome banner with a background image

  • Camper cards showing each linked child with a name and photo

  • Enrollments listing camp sessions or products connected to the account

Tapping a camper card opens that child’s profile. Enrollment details appear only when the account has active or recorded enrollments to show.

Profile and account settings

The profile area shows the signed-in user’s name, email, and photo. If no photo is available, Campium shows the user’s initials instead.

Edit Profile

Users can update their:

  • Profile photo

  • Email address

  • Mobile phone number

They can take a new photo or choose one from their device library, then tap Save to apply the changes.

Change Password

Users enter their current password, a new password, and a confirmation of the new password. Each password field includes a show or hide toggle.

Update Address

Some camps require families to confirm or update their address. When that setting is enabled, the profile area includes Update Address.

Users can enter:

  • Street address

  • City

  • State from a dropdown list

  • ZIP code

If Update Address does not appear, the camp has not requested an address update for that account.

The gallery shows camp photos in a two-column grid of thumbnails. Families often use this area to browse recent camp activity, while camps may allow selected users to upload photos as well.

Browse and filter photos

Users can filter photos by:

  • Season

  • Person

  • Date

  • Tag

Tapping a photo opens a full-screen viewer where the user can zoom and swipe between images. Pull down on the gallery to refresh the photo list.

Download photos

Users with the required photo membership can download photos at no extra cost. If the account does not include that membership, Campium prompts the user to make a one-time seasonal purchase before downloading.

Upload photos

If the camp has granted upload permission, the gallery shows a floating camera button. From the add photo screen, users can:

  • Select one or more photos from the device

  • Choose a season

  • Add a custom tag

  • Select preset tags

  • Tap Upload

Selected photos appear as thumbnails before upload. Users can use Change photos to replace their selection.

News and announcements

The news area shows a scrollable feed of camp announcements. Each item includes a title, date, and content preview.

Tapping a post opens the full article with the complete text and date. Links inside news posts are tappable, and users can pull down to refresh the feed.

If no announcements are available, the app shows No news to report.

Chat and messaging

Campium includes built-in messaging for families and staff. Users can message the camp, coworkers, or groups depending on what their account allows.

Conversation list

The conversation list shows both one-to-one and group chats. Each row can include:

  • Conversation name

  • Last message preview

  • Timestamp

  • Unread count

  • Read receipt checkmark

  • Online indicator for one-to-one chats

Users can search to filter conversations. They can also long-press a conversation to pin or unpin it, which keeps pinned chats in a separate section at the top.

Group chats

Users can start a new group chat with the plus button. When creating a group, they choose members, enter a group name, and can add an optional group photo.

In existing group chats, the group info area can allow users to:

  • Add or remove members

  • Edit the group name

  • Change the group photo

  • Leave the group

  • Delete the group if they are the group admin

Inside a conversation

Messages appear as bubbles, with the user’s own messages on the right and other messages on the left. Conversations also include date separators such as Today and Yesterday.

Messages can include text and images. The conversation header can show online status, a group member count, and a typing indicator.

Notifications for chat

Chat drives push notifications so users know when new messages arrive. If someone is not receiving chat alerts, the first thing to check is whether Campium notifications are allowed in the device settings.

Files

The files area gives users access to downloadable camp materials. Files are grouped into categories such as documents or videos.

Each file entry includes an icon, a title, and a download action. After download, the device opens the file directly or shows the native share or open sheet so the user can choose where to view it.

Useful Links is a simple list of camp-configured web links. Each item can include a title, an optional description, and a link icon.

Tapping a link opens the destination in the browser. Camps often use this section for forms, external resources, or partner websites.

Support and contact the camp

The support screen provides a contact form for sending a message to the camp. The user’s name and email are filled in automatically and cannot be edited on that form.

Users enter their message in a large text field and tap Submit. Some camps also display a note at the top of the form with contact hours or support policies.

After submission, the app shows a confirmation that the message was sent.

Search helps users find other people in the camp directory. To start a search, the user enters at least 3 characters of a name.

Matching results appear with initials in a colored circle and the person’s name. Tapping a result opens that person’s profile.

The search screen can also show helpful states such as:

  • Type at least 3 characters

  • Searching...

  • No users found

My Groups

Staff use My Groups to manage their assigned camp groups or sessions. The screen shows each assigned group with a photo and roster size.

If a staff member has only one assigned group, Campium may open that group automatically instead of showing a list first.

Group details

Inside a group, staff can view the roster and filter by date for up to the past 20 days. A summary card shows counts for checked in, checked out, and absent campers, along with a progress bar.

Staff can expand each camper row and set one of these statuses:

  • Check In

  • Check Out

  • Absent

When checking a child out, the staff member selects the authorized pickup person from a pop-up list. Group details also show the names of staff assigned to that group.

Camper profiles

Campium includes two related profile views for children: one for staff and one for families.

Staff view

The staff view of a camper profile shows the child’s photo, name, and quick actions to call or email guardians. It also includes:

  • Contact information

  • Primary and secondary guardians

  • Authorized pickup people

  • Extra camp form fields

  • Staff notes

Staff can add notes and organize them by category.

Family view

The family view of a child profile focuses on forms and pickup management. Families can:

  • Change the child’s photo using the camera or photo library

  • Open camp forms linked to that child

  • Check each form’s completion status

  • View and manage authorized pickup people

When adding or editing a pickup person, families can enter the person’s name, relationship, and phone number.

Attendance

Attendance gives staff a dedicated way to update camper status outside of the My Groups screen. Staff use dropdowns to choose the camp or season and the date, then work through the roster.

The attendance controls match the group-detail workflow. Staff can mark each camper as Check In, Check Out, or Absent and review a summary card showing the checked-in count with a progress bar.

Bus tracking

Bus tracking shows live GPS status for camp routes. Families can monitor bus progress, and staff can manage route tracking when their permissions allow it.

Bus list

The bus list shows each visible bus with its name and a live status badge:

  • Green Currently Tracking

  • Red Not Tracking

Tapping a bus opens its live tracking view.

Bus detail screen

The bus detail screen includes a live map with the current bus location and route stop markers. Below the map, the roster shows each camper’s:

  • Photo

  • Name

  • Phone

  • Address

  • Estimated arrival time

  • Status tags such as present, absent, arrived, or not arrived

Staff controls

Staff can use Start Tracking and Stop Tracking while a route is active. They can also use a per-camper menu to toggle present or absent and arrived status.

Families can see the live map and roster details but cannot start or stop tracking.

To-do tasks

To-do Tasks gives staff a way to track and manage work inside Campium. The main screen includes Active and Completed tabs for quick filtering.

Task list

Staff can:

  • Create tasks with the plus button

  • Filter by category and priority

  • Pull down to refresh

  • Open a task to view details

  • Long-press a task to edit or delete it

Each task card shows the title, category, status, priority, assignee, and due date.

Task details and comments

The task detail view shows the full description along with priority color and labels for category, status, and priority. Due dates appear in a readable format such as Due today or Overdue by 3 days.

Each task also includes a comments section where staff can add and delete comments.

Add or edit a task

The task form includes these fields:

  • Status

  • Category

  • Priority

  • Title

  • Message

Dropdowns are used where appropriate for status, category, and priority.

Billing and account history

Families can review billing records from the app when billing is enabled for their account.

Account history

The account history screen lists invoices or billing periods with:

  • Name

  • Total cost

  • Balance

A green summary card highlights account totals. Each invoice also offers actions to download the invoice, open it, or view more detail.

Account details

Opening an account period shows the full billing breakdown, including:

  • Season name

  • Total cost

  • Balance

  • Purchases grouped by product

  • Sessions and pricing

  • Payments with account, date, and amount

  • Scheduled payments when present

Notifications

Campium sends push notifications for time-sensitive activity, especially chat messages and bus tracking updates. Users should allow notifications when the device prompts for permission so they do not miss new messages or arrival alerts.

If users report missing chat or bus alerts, check the notification settings on their device before troubleshooting anything else in the app.

Quick troubleshooting reference

  • Missing menu item — The camp likely has not enabled that feature for the user. Home is always visible.

  • Cannot download a photo — The user may need a one-time seasonal photo membership before downloads are allowed.

  • Cannot upload photos — Photo upload appears only for users who have permission from the camp.

  • No reset PIN email — Use Resend PIN on the PIN entry screen. The reset code is 4 digits and is sent by email.

  • Not getting alerts — Check whether Campium notifications are enabled in the device settings.

  • No Start Tracking or Stop Tracking button — That control is staff-only. Families can view the map and roster but cannot control tracking.

  • Sign-in options — Users can sign in with email and password, Google, and Apple on iPhone or iPad.

  • Platforms — Campium is available on iOS, Android, and web. View as user is web-only.
